On July 12, 2 pm at the courthouse in Lake City (111 Canal Street) we will be facing off with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Michigan Attorney General (AG) in court for the first time.  Both sides are asking for Summary Disposition, meaning that the judge will say that there isn’t a legitimate case and therefore one side wins by default.  We are also asking for a Jury for the trial in August.  This means the DNR and AG would have to present their case to a panel of citizens who would advise the judge.  The DNR has no desire to make their case to a panel of our peers and is fighting this motion strongly.  Come and show your support for small family farms and the right to procure the foods of your choice from the producer of your choice!  Let’s fill the courtroom and respectfully show the judge that the people care about their rights and are supporting Mark Baker.

The following day, July 13 we are hosting a pig roast and Celebration of the Farm!  We will be roasting a couple of these infamous beasts and invite you to join us.  Festivities start about noon, with food starting about 1:00.

Activities include:

Farm tour hay ride given by the Feral Farmer, Mark Baker.

                Fun and games for everyone!

                Inspirational speakers

                Silent Auction

                Greased pig contest

Music by the fire (bring your instrument and talent to share)

Folks are welcome to camp on our rustic campground in tents or campers, or in the bunkhouse (on a first come, first served basis, bring your sleeping bag—we have 16 beds).  There are many other lodging options in Lake City and Cadillac, both lovely lake side towns.

Bring your own adult beverages. Please no dark liquor.

There will be some meat available for sale.  We will have baskets available if you want to grab a sampler.  We will also have lots of our GMO free chicken in the freezer for sale.  This is a great way to support the farm and take home some good food!

This Celebration is being sponsored by friends of the farm as a way to raise the funds needed to get through till August.  The government is using your tax dollars to impinge on private property and impose their irrational rules on your food providers.  By helping the farm stay afloat you will be joining a community of those who want to protect your rights to procure the foods of your choice from the producer of your choice.

The event is free but there will be a donation piggy at the Celebration to show your appreciation for good food, farm fun, and Mark Baker’s courageous stand.

If you can’t attend the hearing or the Celebration but want to support Mark’s stand, you can donate through this Pledgie campaign: 20620 Please help spread the word by grabbing the button while you’re at the site and adding it to your own site, or liking it on facebook and spreading the word that way.

We hope to see you at either or both of these events!  Please RSVP by e-mail if you plan to come on Saturday so we know how many folks we get to feed:  bakersgreenacres@yahoo.com

If you are able to donate a food, artisan item or talent for the Silent Auction, please let us know.
