Description

Are you interested in growing your own food to feed your family, but WHERE TO START?? How important is  your health? Your food security? Your need to reconnect with your roots in the dirt?  This is your opportunity to invest in yourself, your piece of land, and your community.

Are you are ready to reconnect intimately with your food and to start growing something you can put on your dinner plate?

Is the cost of poor health from poor food is mounting?

Is the expense of having someone else grow and process your meat is becoming difficult?

The Homesteader’s Guild is a group of like minded folks experiencing  how to raise their own food with the coaching and guidance of long time farmer Mark Baker.  Mark will coach you through the processes needed to survive and thrive in your own little patch of earth.

You can watch YouTube videos and read books to learn this information. In fact, we have a lot of videos on YouTube and Facebook for exactly that purpose.  AND if you are looking for something more, for a personal conversation and a supportive community of like minded folks, the Homesteader’s Guild is the only place you can find that without traveling and on your schedule. As a member of the Homesteader’s Guild you will have access to an experienced farmer who can talk from experience about what you are trying to raise, help you troubleshoot your efforts in real time, and you will have a supportive group with you on the exclusive, private facebook forum and the live calls to encourage you and expand your knowledge base so much faster.  This is an online classroom where you get to participate in the cooperative learning aspects of a brick and mortar school, and don’t have to leave home to do it.

This session covers the growing season from May through August.  This is the time when most people are preparing to plant their gardens or are acquiring their young animals. It’s the time to grow and cultivate your food.  And, lastly, it’s the time to harvest your food.  (The fall session, starting in September, will focus on the harvest as well, so that’s something to look forward to.)  Over the 16 weeks of this session, you will learn about:

Soil preparation: tilling, fertilizing and mineralizing

Composting

Mushroom cultivation and growing

Beekeeping

How to start chickens and raise pastured poultry

How to raise pigs on pasture

Grazing cows for grass fed beef and grass based dairy

Milking your grass fed dairy cow

Managing a flock of laying hens

Fencing to keep any animal in

Food preservation: produce from your garden, dairy, meat

Butchering chickens

AND MAYBE MORE!!

You don’t have to DO it all, but you’ll get training, coaching, and support to learn what you want to do.  We’d love to talk to you to find out more about your goals and whether or not you’re a good fit for the Homesteader’s Guild group.  Not everyone is prepared to be part of a dynamic learning and doing group like this.  If you’re sure and have no questions, sign up today!  If you’re not sure and want to have a conversation to check it out, give us a .call or email. Because of the intense commitment we make to the folks we coach in each Homesteader’s Guild session, there are limited seats. Call us today to have a chat!
