Fencing for Success Class: May 4

$49.00

Tired of fitful sleep and calls from neighbors with your livestock in their yard?  Good fences make a big difference in farming, whether it’s a couple pigs or goats, or a growing herd of grass fed beef.  You’ll get a chance to build a cornerpost, pound posts, and stretch fence, plus, see the various fences we’ve built it (and we’ve fenced in almost everything!), so you have the knowledge in your hands as well as head.  You also get the farmer for a full day and can bring your questions to see what might work well on your farm.  This is a full one day class.

Description

“Fences make for good neighbors,” so the saying goes.

Anyone Can Farm! And there’s no need to reinvent the proverbial wheel.

There are two critical things to invest in no matter what animals you intend to have on your property: fences and water.  Fencing is one of the things we learned to appreciate early on and spent many years honing as we chased goats, pigs, cows, and horses back to where they belonged.   In this one day class you’ll get to try your hand at:

  • setting corner posts for a fence and stringing wire.
  • setting up an electric fence for cows and hogs.
  • and considering the various types of fences and what will meet your needs.

Where else can you learn real farming skills on a real working farm from people who are really doing the thing?  There are a lot of advantages to coming to a BGA Anyone Can Farm class besides building fences and raising chickens.  You get to see these skills in the context of a regenerative farm that really works and pick the brains of the people doing it.  No need to reinvent the wheel!

$49 for this one day class, with lunch provided.  The day starts at 9 a.m. and generally ends around 3 p.m.
