Keeping up with 350 growing chicks is a challenge, especially when
one is only set up for 1/2 that many. Monday morning Mark went into the brooder to find all the tanks overheated. Seemingly overnight the little guys had outgrown their space, causing a rain forest effect in the tanks. The chicks were wet, their sawdust was wet, even the windows in the brooder room were dripping. Once again, Mark got creative and we graduated most of the chicks to the floor where they’d have lots more space and air. They have a “hover” they can come and go from as they need warmth. Once they all got a nap they were happily discovering the feed and water and enjoying their new space. A brooder full of peeps is a good place.
